The UK has a productivity problem. We produce around 28% less per hour worked than the United States, and 13–14% less than France or Germany. Growth has been effectively flat since the 2008 financial crisis — the past decade delivered just 7% cumulative productivity growth, second-slowest in the G7.
Most British businesses have never had the scale to automate the way global enterprises do — and that's a big part of why productivity has stalled. The long tail isn't a niche: SMEs make up 99.85% of UK businesses, employ 60% of the private-sector workforce, and generate over half of national turnover.
AI changes the maths. For the first time, the tools that drive serious productivity gains are within reach of a 50-person firm, not just a 50,000-person one. But the gap is already opening — 44% of large UK firms have adopted AI versus just 15% of small ones, leaving an estimated £78 billion of unrealised value sitting in the SME segment alone.

At Ferrous Labs he is the product side of the founding pair: scoping what gets built, structuring the partnerships, making sure the right thing ships.
He delivered Trust OS and AskPhi at concept-to-product stage. When the question is what to build, Elliott is the reason it is the right thing.

Ali Nadian
Technical Director, Co-FounderPhD in Computer Vision; 15+ years building intelligent systems; former Assistant Professor at Shahid Beheshti University. Ali leads the technical architecture and the data-science work across every build.
He delivered ExtremeReach Visual Intelligence (vector retrieval at broadcast scale, 10× cheaper than standard approaches), the HV Circuit Breaker monitoring system (lab to mass production), Property-Tech Document AI (benchmarked vs AWS and Azure), and XR Diversity Intelligence (custom CV models built from scratch).
